It's March 26, 2020.
It's my kid's birthday and it was one of the reasons I went out shopping yesterday. I wanted to buy a birthday present and some food my kid likes. It's a habit with us. The birthday child can choose what to eat. This child of mine is happy with everything. We talked about it a few weeks ago because without money you can not celebrate.
I made cheesecake.
It was the first thing I did, started the day with.
This was the only candle I could find. But the kid managed to blow it and do a wish.
"You used a 12 year old candle", my daughter asked. It's one of the candles of one of the worst whipped cream puffs pie we once had. The profitoroles/whipped cream puffs were hard as stone and empty. Two.options: the confectionary forgot to fill them with cream or it was made as an example in the store.
This cheese cake is made with:
- 500 grams of quark,
- 150 grams of sugar,
- 4 tablespoons custart,
- a bit salt,
- 3 eggs and
- some cream.
Oven: 50 minutes - 180°C
My child didn't count with a cheesecake as it said yesterday "A pancake with monchou is fine too." It meant the pancakes I made a few weeks ago.
Ingredients pancakes:
- water
- flour
Bake at one side and turn the pancake. Put some custard pudding on it and cherry marmalade.
The custard pudding I made yesterday and the cherry marmalade 4 years ago. Only the birthday child ate it.
After all the sweet stuff it's time for something else.
It's chicken and a mix of frozen vegetables. I bought the vegetables frozen yesterday. They tasted fine and I added some extra soy sauce. A happy moment for my child again. It loves this spicy mix. Most of the food I gave to the birthday child. It needs more than I.
Some cheese for dessert.
It's Gouda and Cheddar. The Gouda is young cheese which means kind of tasteless but nothing else was available and it's better as no cheese.
Potato chips with a "dip sauce".
It made this chips taste better. It was the only kind left in the shop.
As you can see it's partly burned.
Still, my kid was happy with it and that's what counts most.
We didn't drink the "children's champaign". Tomorrow we will drink the bottle and toast on the New Year filled with challenges and... I make the next cake out of the left custard pudding and this.
Celebrate life as long as you can.
