First christmasday my family in law came over to unpack presents, have a drink and a delicious dinner. I had arranged (together with my wife) the dinner choices. With, of course, the main dish, Turkey from the grill.
I started prepping the turkeys early in the morning because they had to be on the grill for at least hours. Of course on slow cook and not full temperature ahead :) Otherwise the won't last long at the gril :)
I started with the stuffing for one of the two turkeys. One I wanted to fill with:
- minced meat
- Mushrooms
- Onions
- Galic
- Egg
- Bread
The egg is for binding the minced meat in the turkey.
The turkeys were really huge, they weight about 5.2 KG each, so they were really something.
After drying them I rubbed them in with my home made rub (see my previous post about the rub). and they already looked awesome :)
I started to heat up the grill, it first had to get on to a 100 degrees celcius. And then putt the Turkeys in.
In the meanwhile my son dressed up Bassie (our dog) in christmas style :)
So while the turkeys were in the grill chillin and relaxing it was for us time to unpack the presents..
Every year it is a struggle to come up wit some original ideas for presents, but this year for our youngest it was easy.
He got a new bass-guitar.
Although it is quiet a big present we knew he was very happy with it because his old bass is to hard to play on cause of a to curved neck. This makes the strings to high which is very difficult to play on. On the picture he looks not as happy as he showed us while unpcking the bass... It was awesome to see, such a happy face. And the bass.... wow the thing sounds awesome...
Besides the Turkey I grilled a lot of vegetables like mushrooms, pepper points, zucchini. All with a oil dressing of garlic and sea-salt.
Finally the turkey was ready to serve and they both looked delicious. The outside was crispy and the inside was really tender and everybody enjoyed it...even the kids...
As a appetizer we had a Do It Your self salad. We put all kinds of ingredients on the table and everyone could make their own salad... It was a big succes :)
So our Christmas dinner was great, how was yours?
The day after our dog had to chill a bit after all the impressions from the evening :)
I hope you all had a great Christmas?
Have a awesome day !!!
Peter
