Unbelievable, but even cookbooks can be especially relevant during the war. For example, now I have a special respect for the author in every word "Seduction with food with Ukrainian taste."
Prior to Russia's attack on Ukraine on February 24,02.2022, this book often helped to choose a menu for the family and prepare a delicious Ukrainian dish. I already knew then that Yevhen Klopotenko was patenting borscht as a Ukrainian dish, for further submission to UNESCO in order to recognize borscht as a national intangible asset of Ukraine. The reason for this decision was, in my opinion, the absurd statement of the neighboring country that Ukrainian borsch is the property of Russia. This was long before Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine. And already now Russian propaganda through the mouth of the spokeswoman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia declares that they attacked Ukraine because of borsch.
"It seems that the recipe of the dish was classified in Ukraine, cookbooks were banned and they did not want to share the secrets of cooking. They say that the situation with borscht is one of the characteristics of how Ukrainians defended their cultural heritage." quote
The author of the book responds to all the accusations of the aggressor:
"They can create a new information field, change historical facts, but in fact there is documentary evidence - the first borsch was recorded in Kharkov in the XVI century. The Russians will not win. ... My idea is: borsch - it is our flagship. We take it and it will lead us forward. " quote
In addition to borscht, of course, Eugene Klopotenko's book contains many other recipes for various dishes. And it is worth reminding that this wonderful young man completely changed for the better menu for all schoolchildren of Ukraine. Now children eat healthy and tasty food to grow up strong, healthy, full of energy and positivity. And I think that Yevhen Klopotenko's cookbooks will decorate the kitchen literary shelf in every home, in any country in the world. Especially since "Seduction with Food" was published in both Ukrainian and English.
