I will continue with a dynamic that I've been fostering throughout my posts, which is following a series or franchise, and in this case, I will continue making these Sprite stickers of the starter Pokémon, which I will use to decorate my room.

We primarily look for the reference we are going to use in our design, and this type of drawing is a challenge, since we are talking about Pixel Art, I decided to resemble this art as much as possible, and although many things are not faithful to the original design, that's where my unique style comes in.

Ivysaur

We get to work by making our pencil sketch, guided by our reference. We're going to focus on making it as similar as possible and measuring our previous Bulbasaur design so that they maintain a similar height.

image.pngimage.pngimage.png

Once the sketch is finished, we erase everything so we can paint and the color doesn't get smudged. This time, I'm going to use colors, and I'll be using several shades of greens and blues that I have.

COLORING

When coloring, I always start with the base color, which I'm used to being a very light tone. Then, I gradually darken the areas where the shadows of that same color would be, and so on, for the eyes, body, and the shell on the back.

The drawing has many light shades of blue and green. We'll use a red, mixing it with a pink, to give the feeling of life to a beautiful flower, which is characteristic of this plant-type Pokemon.

LORE

Ivysaur has a more vibrant bluish hue than its pre-evolution, Bulbasaur. Furthermore, its eyes remain red with black pupils. The bulb on Bulbasaur's back has sprouted, revealing a flower bud that remains closed. Ivysaur uses this flower in the same way Bulbasaur used its bulb for most of its attacks. The flower grows with direct exposure to sunlight, forcing Ivysaur to walk around at all times to ensure the light is fully absorbed. Because of this flower's development, to support its weight and stem, its legs become more robust and stronger than Bulbasaur's; however, it now finds it difficult to stand on its hind legs.

Spending time basking in sunlight is a sign that its bud will soon become a large flower. While basking in the sun's rays, it remains completely still, performing photosynthesis. Researchers studying it have not yet reached an agreement on whether it is awake or asleep during this process. The flower emits a soft and pleasant aroma, which frequently attracts people and other Pokémon. When it becomes a sweet aroma, it is an indicator that its flower is about to bloom. According to Ken Sugimori and Junichi Masuda in an interview, its body, like its entire evolutionary line, is based on an amphibian (toad or frog).

The natural habitat of this species is the meadow, although they also live in plains with sources of fresh water exposed to the sun, and some in sunny forests to have constant access to light, where they are usually seen alongside other members of their species.
