Changes were never easy for me, it has been difficult for me to adapt to them. When I found out that I had to leave my city and my family again, I felt a fear in my gut that I couldn't avoid.

"Come, I need you here with me..." was the phrase of a message that my partner sent me while in another city. He wanted me to go with him and start a life together.

I became a ground for discord. Every new thought broke the previous one successively until I was left only with doubts.

"If you don't come, I'll assume that our relationship is over," he told me to finish me off.

That's when my heart accelerated and the battle of decisions in my interior became more atrocious. I had no desire to go, but I didn't want to break up with my partner either. I kept my mind cold, until in the end I took some suitcases and bought a plane ticket.

Goodbyes are the worst; especially the family ones. I could only say goodbye to my mother and my sister, both had irritated and teary eyes. My heart was diminishing, but I breathed deeply, and I only left a hug and some words of encouragement.

The next day, I was with my partner. I surrendered to his arms with great happiness with the tears on my face already dry. We kissed like never before and shared a reasonable time of intimacy.

That morning, he asked for permission at work to show me the area where we lived. It was a quiet place with few people, with a central avenue as wide as the one in my hometown. There were places to hang out, like talking, reading, writing, having a coffee, or tasting delicious food. Everything was close and the climate was very pleasant.

Thanks to the generous environment, I was able to adapt quickly. My boyfriend gave me the confidence to continue here, supporting each other. We got our own space and our couple's life began from that day.

However, I couldn't leave my feelings behind. The customs of the past kept drilling in my mind. I remembered how every morning I helped my mother make fried dough for breakfast, with scrambled eggs and freshly made coffee.

Then my sister would arrive ready to take her breakfast to work, we would talk for a while with coffee before starting the day. There was always neighborhood or family gossip, laughter, and conversations that seemed endless, then each one fulfilled their obligations until the end of the day when my mother made more coffee to accompany it with some sweet bread and a little cream.

I tried to revive those moments by doing the same here, but it wasn't the same. My boyfriend spent all day working, while I only worked part-time. I started to feel nostalgia, with a deep sadness; and that's when anxiety attacked me.

I had problems reconciling with creativity, I tried to lose myself in reading, but it was in vain. Then I occupied my mind with other hobbies; like movies and narration, but everything gave the same unfavorable result.

It was hard for me to fight my demons; each one of them prepared a path towards melancholy. I hid my feelings from my boyfriend because he didn't need another problem, on the contrary, he needed all my support. I tried to eliminate every expression, emotion, or comment, but I felt that I couldn't anymore and I fell into a huge depression.

I missed my family, I couldn't deny it anymore; My mother's almost daily messages made me miss her even more. My father's political comments, my sister's work anecdotes, my brother's bad jokes, the gossip about other relatives, the delicious food from my land, all that became something I yearned for again.

One night I got sick, my boyfriend had come home from work tired. He brought me some medication that had an almost sedative effect. I lay down for a while and closed my eyes.

Suddenly, a scent made me get up. I rubbed my eyes turned on the light, and immediately went to the kitchen. My boyfriend had made fried dough, with scrambled eggs and coffee with milk; it was a coincidence because at that moment I was thinking about my mother's breakfasts.

I smiled, I hugged him from behind, and kissed him on the nape, I felt sorry that he made dinner so tired. That night he looked into my eyes like he had never done before and smiled at me.

"I just want you to be well and recover from whatever is bothering you," he said as if he knew exactly what was happening to me, squeezing my hand gently and caressing my fingers softly.

I sighed very long, I felt lucky to have him. I had a moment of reflection and I told myself that I couldn't lose myself that way. Now I had a new life, with someone who loved me and needed my support; if he fell, who would be there to pick him up?

I became more proactive, more energetic, and shrewd. My creativity overflowed and I wanted to do many things. My free time was valuable because I took advantage of all the energy I acquired. I became a pillar for my boyfriend and everything he needed for the hard days to come.

I still feel that thorn in my chest, but now it hurts less. I still have the hope of seeing my family again, I just have to wait a little longer. From time to time I honor the mornings of coffee and fried dough, now with the person with whom I am sharing my life.
