Open skies, a dry landscape with lonely Saguaro cactus and other desert plants and the jagged little peaks of the Livingstone Hills in the Kofa NWR provide a beautiful background to enjoy if you visit the area just south of Quartzsite, Arizona.
Although our visit was to collect quartz crystal from around the hill, there are plenty of other beautiful scenes to enjoy and photograph.
If you're interested in Southwest geography/geology here's information from the Fish & Wildlife Service which controls the refuge.
