Another brutally hot day at the hatchery with the temperature once again over 100 degrees with lots of sun and NO wind - really lousy conditions for exercising outdoors. alt
Fortunately my volunteer shift was in the afternoon so I was able to hit the pavement before the heat became oppressive as well as dangerous. The first mile on the path let my legs loosen up a bit before I turned onto the much nicer bike trails. The twisting route was a fun choice to run. The scrubby oak forest provided a good amount of shade and the green vegetation was a big contrast to the lawns being turned brown and dry in the heat.
alt
The wide soft paths made for avery nice run and my pace didn't slow too much even with all of the twists and little hills and it was easy to relax and run well
Finished up with almost 5 and a half miles. My Hdrop sweat sensor showed that I sweated over a liter of fluid and a couple of thousand milligrams of sodium so that's a good bit of information for my longer future runs and electrolyte intake.
Hot again tomorrow but we're off for 3 days.
