The Anniversary Collection information was added after the article was up for about 5 minutes, it took me that long to realize I forgot to mention it. So, there is a chance you caught the first version

I was horrible at this game in the arcades. Probably a combination of having to stand on a milk crate to see the screen and reach controls and my being quite young at that point. I did love this game on

I have not heard of that Ninja Warriors Once Again before. Going to have to look that up.

I need to research it more some day to find out what game was purchased and made into GTA. It was an Amiga game, I know that. I need to check out Payback when I get a chance, I like the old style GTA games,

I completely agree, environment and stimuli must factor into how we accept/remember video games. Like for me, I grew up in northern California and then the "boonies" of Arkansas for my later

Do it! Get those consoles out, play them. Enjoy them. Relive those memories. And yes, I agree, TMNT is better. Not as good as Final Fight but still better than Power Rangers. Though, the Power Rangers

Keep an eye on Piko Interactive, they bought the rights to the engine/games (but not the name). Going to probably be some ports and new entries in this series coming.

I have a soft spot for Power Rangers myself. For me it started airing in the United States just as I was getting bored with cartoons and such (I was not a fan of the art style direction things were going).

I am right there with you on feeling my age with some of these games. That is what makes it so much fun to write them up though. I get a chance to relive a little bit of my younger years again, sometimes

Solomon's Key was one of those games I picked up from a rental store clearance sale back in the day. No instructions, no box, just the game and a clear clamshell case like what they rented games in. After

That is something I wish more of these independent homebrew developers would do, especially when working with a property owned by someone else - release the code. Release demo versions as you go. A C&D

Don't worry, there are TONS more available. I counted about 100 or so and narrowed it down to this list. I intentionally left a lot out so that people may discover that hidden gem they forgot about and

I was out of arcades by the time SFA came along. I was solely a console gamer at that point. I remember reading all the coverage I could in gaming publications at the time. I was a big Street Fighter fan

Yeah, Deathmatch Classic and others are popular, or were. Considering how they designed it, those with the knowledge can literally make anything with the engine. I know someone, years ago, recreated the

I played this one so far back that it would be a brand new adventure to me at this point. That means it is probably time to take that leap again. Lol. I remember it being fun though I preferred the original

Yeah, the original was on Nintendo DSiWare and Xbox Live Indie Games. I believe that was ended a few years after the Xbox 360 was launched. Here is a review of the original on Nintendo DSiWare -
