Where shall I wash my hands
Filled with the dirt of the earth?
Where shall I wash the garments
My sinful hands have touched?

I ran to the river beside my father's house,
I washed and scrubbed
But instead, it filled with my dirt,
Yet my hands were never cleansed.

I looked out at the streets
From the window that hides me,
Where once I bared my fingerprints-
Now, a "once upon a time."

I chose thee
When I fell into a sinful slumber,
Without thinking twice and then paying the price.

Oh, my unclean hands,
where shall I wash thee?
To whom shall I run?
Do not cause me more than I have caused;
You were born of me,
So shall you be dead of me.
