The way the universe works is not known to any of us. many of the things that happen to us are directly or indirectly caused by our actions or inactions. Although there are situations where natural disasters take place without prior notice, apart from that, we are mostly the agents of our own circumstances.

While I was in the hospital with my daughter, there was a lady and a guy who also brought their daughter to the hospital. I said that because I never thought they were legally married, since it was obvious that they were still in school, probably in a higher institution. At first, they commenced treatment for the child, but the doctor did not know that the baby had sickle cell disease. So, most of the medicines prescribed were too harsh for her until one doctor suggested that they should check their genotypes.

The problem was probably from the parents. The mother knew she was AS, while the father also claimed he was AA. The result of their decision was what they were now battling with. It turned out that the father was actually AS. I really felt bad because they were still young and should probably have known the implications of their actions. But we humans do not always learn.

The guy claimed he was AA, maybe because he loved the lady and did not want to leave her. But the consequences of their actions are not something that will be easy for them to manage, considering the child and the financial burden they may have to face in the future. Later, the lady had to say that she did not think she would continue with the relationship, and I really agreed with her.

Many of the things that happen to us in terms of health and other issues, such as financial difficulties, are mostly caused by us, whether directly or indirectly. We are the directors of our own destiny. Inasmuch as we do not get to decide who our parents are, the country we are born into, or our origins, we can decide many things for our children. Parents should always try to make life easier for their children, whether or not they had an easy life themselves. It is what they are required to do.

I have seen parents telling their children that their own parents never did much for them and that they struggled to make it happen, so their children should also be responsible for their own lives. It is just what it is. In terms of health too, many of the things that happen to us are evident in our lineage. Many sicknesses are hereditary, and they can be managed by us if we make the effort to check our family history and understand how our parents lived their lives. It is going to help us a great deal. But many of us never put that into consideration.

At times, it often occurs to us that the universe is not always fair when something happens to our loved ones or people close to us. But we forget that many of the things that happen do not necessarily happen without our connection to them. This is different from accidents and other crises that happen as a result of circumstances beyond our control.

We can always strive to make something out of nothing in our lives and be responsible for whatever happens to us. That is why we should complain less and focus more on what we can control.
