Something I have never done before: transforming a skirt into a capelet.

I found my old, thick wool skirt and thought it would be warm around my shoulders, something different from what I normally use. I thought a capelet would be a good idea as it isn't too long and won't get in the way when doing things around. Since it is so rainy and cold outside today, I decided to just stay in and do this.

I decided to cut the middle to create an opening.

I reduced the flare in the middle area by cutting a couple of chunks of fabric.

Trying to figure out the collar.

I tidied up the edges and sewed it by hand.

I tried to make the collar.

I am quite pleased with the result.

I had extra pieces that I had taken off, and Coco lay on them, so I decided to make her a cape

Putting them together and cutting. Sewing the edges.

I put a garter for easy putting on.

I couldn't wait to put it on Coco.

It is exciting knowing that we are a pair.

Once done, we both wore it.

Although Coco wasn't in the mood, we went out for a little walk with our capelets, It was getting dusky and cold but we were both warmed and comfortable.

Have a lovely day, everyone!
Mariah 😊
