I woke up feeling a little low, and as I looked out of the window at the blustery, rainy weather, I found myself staring at the raindrops trickling down the glass.

Somehow, they sparked a little inspiration, and I felt the urge to put on my raincoat and capture the beauty of those tiny droplets.

Off I went to the nearby forest, with my macro lens tucked under my coat to keep it dry. It was my first time using it (an old Pentax 50mm macro lens), and I thought it would be nice to give it a try.

Here’s what I captured.

Drips under the wooden fence.

Crab apples

Dripping with rain.

Ivy

Ginkgo biloba: I like those silvery droplets.

Rain-drenched rowan berries.

Some grass

Droplet on willow bark stem.

Dogwood leaves

The tip is pooling with water.

Bullrush Leaves

Drooping from the rain

Rosehips

Cedar

The stream was starting to rise.

Staring at the rain, I watched it falling fast, creating ripples on the water's surface.

All the way through Coco followed me, rain or shine! She loves a little adventure with me. The photo of her isn’t very clear, as I was using my macro lens from a distance, but you get the idea. She was absolutely soaking wet and never once complained.

We walked back home, and the road started to flood.

And I realised my mood had lifted.

Now I’m back inside, cosy and warm, enjoying a lovely hot chocolate.

Have a lovely day,
Mariah 💕
