Hey guys I am back with my next piece for the Charactober challenge here on the drawaday community. After working on the leaf sorter and seeing some beautiful versions I got inspired to do another character prompt. And today's prompt is the acorn gatherer. I wanted to capture someone with a totally different kind of autumn energy this time.
Instead of a calm and methodical inspector, I imagined someone who is fiercely protective of his seasonal stash. Gave him an intense, big eyed expression as he clutches a big acorn close to his face, complete with twigs and autumn leaves caught and tangled right into his curly golden hair. To keep that rich seasonal palette going, I paired his look with a deep magenta coat, a burnt orange knotted tie, and a touch of green buttons.
Stuck to my signature clean and flat design style for this one. Keeping the shapes solid and ditching the outlines really lets the character's quirky expression and the story behind his desperate acorn gathering take the spot light. I focused on a chaotic mood of a character prepping for winter to be different.
Hope to do more characters this season
