Found myself sketching this one while watching a random video online. As always I started with a random shape which looked like a hair. Then I added just a loose, blocky shape for the head and a sharp, angular jawline, and before I knew it, a whole character was taking shape in front of me. It is a gentleman of a certain stature and age.
I love that clean and flat aesthetic, with the color palette being simple with a warm skin tone, crisp white collar, and a neat blue suit jacket tied together with a red tie. That open mouth and single, focused eye give him an interesting expression, like he is right in the middle of watching something fascinating himself. Or he could be in a zoom meeting.
I am happy with the final look of my random doodle today
Despite my mind wandering elsewhere it still ending up with a crisp, stylized portrait.
Do you ever find your best doodles happen when you are distracted by something else, or do you need total focus to create?
