Welcome to 365 Draw A Day Drawing Challenge. A drawing challenge that aims to enjoin participants to create on a regular basis and thus help improve their skills. Today, my drawing is
Strawberry Erasers
Remember having a nice and sweet smelling rubbery eraser when you were young? I had a few of those fruit scented erasers back in elementary days. It was a thing then and we collect them all. Here my is a reminder of those days. How about you guys did you also collect this kind of eraser?
Here is how I made my drawing:
I usually start with a background because my drawing tool does not allow me to create layers. I am thinking of a sunny room with cool colors.
My focal point is this bowl. I placed it on top of a kitchen towel. I still do not know what to put in the bowl.
Still thinking about my main subject here and to keep me busy while considering a lot of options I started to add details on the bowl. Here I added these gray patterns outside and a texture inside of the bowl.
Finally something red and green. Could be a tomato or apple but here I am busy with the red shapes finding the right angle
This is my favorite part. Adding these dots on the fruits. So you can now tell these are strawberries. I love how the yellow dots kind of follow the shape of the object and how the color changes on its own depending on the angle. I love that effect because it is less effort for me to change the colors to give some depth on my berries. The last minute decision I made is the background color. I think the berries would look better with a solid background color rather than a washy water color effect. What do you guys think?
This challenge as you can tell requires a ton of commitment as it literally involves creating one drawing for a whole year. Never fret if you miss a day or two just try to catch up or start on a day that you can. What matters most is you have fun with no pressure creating.
