In this post, we'll provide the prompt for the coming week.
We ask that you read our Creative Nonfiction Tips post to learn about the creative nonfiction genre and review our guidelines.
Important notes:
Thank you to all who participated in last week's prompt : Take a leaf out of someone's book.
Highlighting , with the story:
I think about that a lot, especially when I'm helping my fellow students. They treat me the way I used to treat Mansoor; like I'm in on something they're not. Like I have some kind of secret.
Curator's comment :
lailawrites takes my breath away with this beautifully written CNF about school, and how he was inspired by a kid who took it all seriously and studied with diligence. He really has a beautiful gift for storytelling. With an interesting word choice or description here, a great character sketch there, he creates a cinematic experience with his stories.
Highlighting , with the story:
"Go away", I immediately did so and hid behind the small door and listened when she said: "This government will be overthrown in a short time!", my little heart shuddered like a ship adrift in a gale, several tears welled up in my eyes and I became absorbed in my thoughts.
Curator's comment :
Rammargarita offers a fascinating perspective on the contemporary history of Venezuela, as experienced by one family and one child. This author's most recent story is a tribute to her mother's strength and dedication during politically tumultuous years. Her mother was a leader in her community. Although the story is a personal portrait, it gives a view of events that today still have great consequences.
Highlighting , with the story:
It is amazing to say that my financial breakthrough didn’t start from a seminar or YouTube video but it started at a puff-puff stand, watching a young woman named Tayo turn simplicity into strategy.
Curator's comment :
A very expressive piece that emanates sincerity and keeps us reading to see how it goes from a depressed economic and emotional state to a quite optimistic one.
Living the dream
meaning:
Having the best of times or at least dreaming about it!
