We've started our summer of fun today, which is a trip to some random places in Finland. First stop was a castle where we even did a tour, and now we are at some place that has some pools, as Smallsteps is always happy in the water.

I get to write this post sitting on the grass. It has been a while.

The only problem is that she isn't a great swimmer yet, but it seems that despite it being a place for families, there is only one tiny "in between" pool. Other than a baby pool that doesn't reach her waist in depth, all the others are over her head.

That makes no sense.

It is nice and relaxing though, as the sun is out, it isn't cold, it isn't hot, and even though there are many people here, it is relatively quiet.

Rain is forecast for tomorrow.

So it will be quieter and the activities might be more indoor than today. Though I am not fussed either way, and the pool Smallsteps can use is inside anyway.

This feels like being on holiday.

Even Smallsteps was happy to get out of the house for a bit and go somewhere different. She said she is looking forward to listening to different Finnish dialects on the various places. Even though the distances are relatively short, the way people talk can change a fair bit from place to place, even over the space of 100 miles.

I recognize I needed a holiday.

I don't think I would ever be the kind of person who would ever want to be on permanent vacation, but I am the kind who would like to be able to get away whenever I wanted.

Options are good.

But just like how still waters run deep, having options requires deep pockets, and mine are far too shallow for more than a few days away at the moment. Hopefully in the coming years that could change for the better.
