While the rest are collecting birch branches to make a bunch to whip each other's backs in the sauna, I thought I would post done images. It is midsummer today, and that means we are in the country eating good food (inside because it is too cold) ad heading for a swim. Because that is a must for those who haven't yet shed their winter coats.
Mine is gone.
Juhannus just means midsummer and it is a big thing in Finland to mark with friends and family. We are at my sister-in-law's cottage on a farm, and it is quite a relaxing space. The food has been good, but I am looking forward to the sauna.
This is the technical sunrise to sunset time.
But it doesn't actually get dark at all, as the sun just dips below the horizon for a couple hours and slides back up again. It is only 16°C however, so the drunken drownings will be at a minimum this year.
One of the morbid games is to guess how many will drown by the end of the weekend.
I predicted 8.
There is no prize.
But they are back now, so I will finish this quickly and leave you with the photos I have taken so far from the day. There might be more later.
And this time my wife found a four-leaf clover.
