Hey you writing people!
This is the first time I am doing a 5 minute freewrite chalange, that I found on @mariannewest channel and here you can see the whole blog and the idea behind it.
I was inspired this morning to write, so here it is:
Freshly Baked Rolls
If I could bottle a certain smell, this would be one of them. I would call it Sunday at Grandma's. Why you ask?
This morning as I sat down to have my usual and very much needed cup of coffee, a smell woke me up even faster. But not the smell of the coffee in front of me, rather the smell of freshly baked rolls. I smiled, knowing there was only one bakery that sells them in the entire city.
Only one to even resemble the ones my grandma used to make.
It's one of those smells that evokes memories and nostalgia. Tingling the parts of your emotions you forgot you ever had. Taking you back to carefree childhood, where your feet couldn't touch the ground while sitting and there was a cup of warm milk waiting for you.
Milk is now long gone and strong coffee took it's place, warmth might seem the same, but the aftertaste isn't. Bitterness takes over carefree childhood thoughts, but at least I had a few minutes of pure joy waiting on the Grandma's freshly baked rolls.
With love,
Tamara
