Yesterday a friend of mine was telling me how she is dating a guy. As they have been going out for three beautiful dates and that now, the boy, who has more confidence, invited her to spend the night together; my friend told me that she said no, as she wants a romance like in the anime, and that doesn't happen in anime. Beyond the fact that I found that logic absurd, I thought about what makes love anime so precious. I have seen gringo love movies and they are beautiful, I accept that, and Korean dramas are also interesting to watch, despite being very extravagant, but with anime it's different, or at least, I feel it's different. Obviously this happens because of the culture, but has it always been like this? Will it continue to be like this over the years?
驴Seguir谩 siendo as铆 con los a帽os?
With what my friend told me, besides telling her that she was a fool, I told her about Horimiya, one of the best romance anime I've ever seen. Here the main characters, if I remember correctly, have a relationship in chapter four, and this is great because they lose the taboo, because they go straight to the point and completely break the clich茅 of romance anime in which the games are so long that it ends up being a bummer. For the same reason I also really like Kaguya, that despite being the opposite side to what happens in horimiya and it was not until the last chapter of the second season that the protagonists kiss, this anime has a student couple that is part of the secondary characters (in fact, they can be counted as extras) that openly have an active sex life and have a beautiful relationship, which shows that Kaguya is just a case among all the types of relationships that can be had.
Another example of romance that doesn't resemble the typical anime romance is my dress up Darling, which despite being a bit ecchi, has one of the most real and beautiful male-female dynamics I've seen in anime, where they not only fall in love little by little both as friends and as people, but they also love more and more the things they are passionate about, finding a refuge and an escape that unites them, making this anime not only something that can be seen by a small niche of people who like ecchi, but rather a real anime as beautiful as it is fascinating.
But obviously, if there are clich茅 romance anime with characters that never say their feelings but in every episode they show it, it's because that clich茅 has worked. It has worked with your lie in april, with karekano, Kimi ni todoke and many others. I can understand that seeing this treatment and how some characters act in this kind of anime feels weird at first, but the truth is that it has a certain beauty to see how the characters fall madly in love, and their concern is noble, instead of being driven by insecurity and disillusionment, which makes their characters move in the purest way possible, something I will never get tired of seeing.
