¡Hola, querida comunidad de Encuentro de Talentos! ☕🤎

There are questions that make us look toward the future, yet—curiously enough—end up bringing us right back to the present. Imagining what my life might be like at age 100 is one such question, prompted by the Encuentro de Talentos community; check it out here.

This November, I will turn 24. I still have so much left to discover, learn, and experience—and, no doubt, plenty of mistakes to make, stumbles to encounter, and opportunities to find new meaning in whatever happens. Yet, today, I find myself imagining what it would be like to reach a century of life: What would I think of the woman I am today? Which dreams would I have fulfilled? What things that seem monumental now would have faded into mere, small anecdotes? And what would I say to those just beginning their own journeys?

I don’t know if I will reach a hundred years of age; health and time are never guaranteed. But what is within my control is deciding how to spend the time I have today. If there is one thing I deeply desire, it is to reach an advanced age feeling that it was all worth it—with a heart that beats to the rhythm of cherished, happy moments, and a clear mind capable of offering sought-after advice and the kind of wisdom that helps other souls achieve what they long for.

When I think of a centenarian, I don’t just see someone who has lived many years; I see a person of great wisdom. I hope to reach that stage with the serenity of someone who has learned the art of letting go, with a genuine desire to share stories, and with the firm conviction that we never stop learning. I would love to be able to tell those just starting out that today’s tears can sometimes open doors tomorrow, and that it is never too late to change course.

Of course, to truly enjoy that wisdom, I know I need a body that can keep up with me. I understand that my body is a temple—one I must nurture so that it remains in good condition for my final, golden years. Sometimes, we view health as a burden or an exhausting obligation, but taking care of myself—eating better, staying active, exercising, and resting without guilt—is, in truth, the most honest way to thank my body for everything it does for me every single day.

I’ve been reflecting on this after hearing stories about people in towns like Montalbán, where some great-grandparents maintain an admirable vitality. They live far removed from the constant presence of technology, rooted in the essentials—farming, fishing, and direct contact with the earth. While we may not be able to replicate that lifestyle exactly, their stories remind me that in a world where we spend hours staring at screens, we sometimes need to return to the basics: sharing a meal at the same table, engaging in unhurried conversation, and caring for our community.

If fate grants me the blessing of reaching the age of 100, I imagine myself sitting by a window, opening a photo album, and flipping through the pages of this blog. I want to read what I wrote—for myself and for others—revisit the projects I began, and smile, knowing that I was truly present in my own life. I’m not looking for a perfect story; rather, I seek the peace that comes from knowing I dared to pursue things that were once nothing more than distant dreams.

My future self cannot travel back in time to tell me what to do, but I—from the present—can begin to create memorable moments for her, moments that will fill that album to be looked back upon during the golden years of life. Sometimes we live so fast that we forget that tomorrow is built upon the small decisions we make today. That’s why I’d love to hear from you in the comments:

If you could sit down for five minutes with your 100-year-old self, what would you want to feel proud of when looking back?

While we wait to reach the age of 100, I invite you to keep flourishing alongside me on my other social media channels: rosesbyval@rosesbyval
