Un libro es considerado la puerta para entrar a nuevos conocimientos y posteriores experiencias. De pequeños en las escuelas nos fomentan la lectura para comprender muchas situaciones y para abrir nuestra mente a más enseñanzas. La lectura nos abre la mente, y nos da vocabulario, el diccionario también forma parte importante de nuestro aprendizaje, ya que al no tener conocimiento de una palabra podemos acudir a ella para saber su significado y comprender mejor lo que estamos leyendo.

Recuerdo cuando nos mandaban a leer un cuento en clases y a sacar y anotar las palabras que desconociéramos. Esas palabras se anotaban en una hoja y una vez todos hayan leído, nos daban un tiempo determinado para buscar esas palabras en el diccionario y anotar su significado. Luego el profesor nos colocaba de pies para decir cuantas palabras desconocíamos, después por pupitre se iba diciendo las palabras, daban la oportunidad a cualquier estudiante de responder en caso de saber el significado y al final iban sumando puntos, nadie reprobaba, todos aprobaban y el que más significado tenía de otros llevaba puntos adicionales en futuras pruebas.

Lo que la profesora quería con eso era que en casa leyéramos y usáramos el diccionario para abrir nuestro vocabulario. Esa dinámica se repetía también en las clases de sinónimos y antónimos, era muy divertida las clases así. Una buena lectura nos abre la mente y la imaginación llevándonos a experimentos y situaciones que vamos a saber afrontar con los conocimientos que aprendimos. Saber escoger un libro es muy importante, no necesariamente es leer por leer para tener más vocabulario, leer algo que nos deje enseñanzas a futuro es mejor y más productivo.

Algunas personas se acostumbran a leer antes de ir a dormir, otros les cuestan o se quedan durmiendo, creo que todo es cuestión de buscar el horario adecuado para leer y dejar a un lado todo tipo de distracción como puede ser el teléfono, la computadora o cualquier otro factor distractorio. Con la lectura podemos desarrollar la imaginación mientras vamos comprendiendo que estamos leyendo, permitiendo realizar un viaje para la época en la que el escritor quiso plasmar.

A book is considered the gateway to new knowledge and further experiences. As children in schools we are encouraged to read to understand many situations and to open our minds to more teachings. Reading opens our minds, and gives us vocabulary, the dictionary is also an important part of our learning, because when we have no knowledge of a word we can go to it to know its meaning and better understand what we are reading.

I remember when we were sent to read a story in class and to take out and write down the words we didn't know. Those words were written down on a sheet of paper and once everyone had read, we were given a certain amount of time to look up those words in the dictionary and write down their meaning. Then the teacher placed us on our feet to say how many words we didn't know, then the words were said at each desk, they gave the opportunity to any student to answer if they knew the meaning and at the end they were adding points, no one failed, everyone passed and the one who had the most meaning of others got additional points in future tests.

What the teacher wanted with that was that at home we would read and use the dictionary to open our vocabulary. This dynamic was also repeated in the synonyms and antonyms classes, it was a lot of fun. A good reading opens our minds and imagination, leading us to experiments and situations that we will be able to face with the knowledge we learned. Knowing how to choose a book is very important, it is not necessarily reading for the sake of reading to have more vocabulary, reading something that will teach us something in the future is better and more productive.

Some people get used to reading before go to sleep, others find it difficult or fall asleep, I think it's all about finding the right time to read and leave aside all kinds of distractions such as the phone, computer or any other distracting factor. With reading we can develop our imagination while we understand what we are reading, allowing us to make a trip to the time in which the writer wanted to capture.
