Good morning! I am now halfway the blogging challenge initiated by @tegoshei and I am happy that I am able to continue it despite skipping some of the topics. It helps me to resist procrastination a bit and write about different things. If you wish to join the challenge, please check her post Let's Do A 30-Day Blogging Challenge!!!
The 18th blogging challenge asks the participant to recall a favorite childhood memory. Now this got me riding into the nostalgia train and go back to the fun days reminiscing how happy I was back then.
This are the only toys from my childhood that I've managed to keep. These were kept in a box in our garage. I should give these toys a better storage once the pandemic is over.
I think it would be unfair to only choose one favorite memory because if I have the option, I would rather go back being a kid. Life back then was simple, innocent, and full of energy. As one of the memes I saw said, "Don't grow up. It's a trap." 馃槀
When reading the question about favorite childhood memory my mind wanders to those weekends where my whole family is just at home. My mother and sister cook and take care of household chores, my father taking care of some stuff too, while I join my brothers watch television. We mostly watch wrestling or F1 racing. Hey, Michael Schumacher! 馃槀 Sometimes I get to take over the remote control and switch the channel to Cartoon Network or Disney Channel. Hahaha!!! Then in the afternoon, we go out to buy groceries. I wait in the car with my father and brothers, and when my mother and sister finishes, we go to McDonald's and eat. They also often buy me a Happy Meal. I have one drawer full of toys back then, mostly from McDonald's or Jollibee. If we don't go out in the weekend, I dedicate the spare time to recreate the things I've watched from the show Art Attack. I made a tree using a tissue roll and pva glue, painted egg shells, etc. But one of my biggest dreams back then was to make an art on the floor using salt. I wasn't able to do it until today because for sure, my mother won't allow it. Wasting food is not good! Even salt! 馃槀
During school days, I really miss the times I play with my classmates after school hours while waiting for our fetchers. We used to play the same games every single day. The typical Filipino children games, then sometimes we go to the backyard of the school where the playground is. When we grew up a little we began playing badminton and volleyball. Thinking about our repetitive games every single afternoon, I can't believe we actually had fun playing the same things over and over again. And I'm thankful I was able to experience these things before technology have fully became very convenient. If there were already smartphones back then, I could be just sitting on the bench with my friends playing online games.
Then after being fetched from school, we would go to the mall and after going to the grocery I would drag my mother to buy me a scoop of ice cream or nacho or french fries or pop corn. Whatever is available or whatever my stomach craved.
Like I've mentioned earlier, if I could really go back I would rather be a kid. Today, we all have responsibilities to take care of. Life is so busy we could hardly have time for our family. We are so consumed by a lot of things that in reality, have no importance. Ah, it makes me teary writing this post. I wish someone can invent a time machine, asap! 馃槄
Thanks for reading! :)
