Even with the trend of Pay2Earn games, I no longer have any interest in gaming. Meanwhile, I was heavily addicted to gaming when I was a teenager, and this wasn't the modern trend we have today but the old-school type that came with VCD players.

First of all, I still don't know how parents, especially my dad, got to find out that playing games on the VCD could damage its functionality. My dad was so strongly against us playing games on the VCD. If he found out, it meant we would be heavily flogged that day. I received a series of beatings from my dad, but those beatings didn't stop me from playing games, especially Contra. Yeah, Contra was my favourite game, and I could spend the whole day playing it without getting tired.
On weekdays, which were school days, I always felt on top of the world because my dad usually went to the farm, and our school closed by 2 p.m. Whenever school ended and I checked the spot we usually used to know whether there was electricity, and I found out there was power, I would practically walk-run home that afternoon just to get there quickly and play the game.
I usually bribed my female siblings not to tell my dad that I had played games whenever he returned home. Sometimes they accepted the bribe, but most times they didn't, and that usually led to evening or night flogging by my dad.
When phones were gradually becoming common, especially Symbian and Java phones, we discovered that the same games most of us got punished for playing on the VCD were available on phones. However, not many of us had access to phones at that time to play those games. We would borrow phones from friends, and by then, DVDs had taken over, while VCDs were no longer common or popular.
Now, the game is everywhere. I have a phone that I can sit with and play on 24/7, but I no longer have any interest in playing games.
