Welcome to my Starting a garden Post #24 馃尰馃檪 I managed to go two weeks without flower pictures 馃槄 but I couldn't stop myself this week. The first flower is a painted daisy. I have a lot of these in another bed but this one was started from seed and is just now blooming.
Bee balm is holding on and has spread quite a bit over the summer.
Always some bees 馃 (rim shot) ... on the bee balm.
Rudbeckia has been beautiful this summer.
I have several different colors of Rudbeckia.
The Rudbeckia is part of my efforts to plant lots of perennials. I hope build up some beds with perennials to reduce the amount of planting each year.
I love the yellow and red Rudbeckia 馃槏
Now on to the garden... lots of fall colors coming on.
Bright orange pumpkins and some butternut squash mixed in.
Peppers are also starting to change color and ripen up.
Orange, red and green. These are all mini-sweet peppers.
Brussel sprouts aren't bright and pretty but they are a fall crop. Tiny brussel sprouts are starting to form along the brussel sprout stalks.
Marigolds are still bright.
In fact, there are two competing narratives going on in the garden. While the fall crops are beginning to ripen up signalling the end of summer, the whole garden has gotten a new lease on life with the rain and cooler weather. The summer crops are making a come back. For every bloom on this marigold bush, there is another bud waiting to open 馃檪
The cucumbers are blooming again.
And reaching out with tendrils for support ...
Green beans are blooming again too.
Such delicate little blossoms...so HARD to photograph 馃檨
Pumpkins are still spreading everywhere - in the beds, outside the beds, outside the fence 馃檮
Tomatoes are blooming again. The tomatoes have been so productive this year. Btw made some more tomato soup today. Added in some peppers and zuchinni. Very tasty 馃構
And speaking of peppers... they are blooming again also.
Thats it for the garden this week. Thanks for visiting 馃檹
Bonus pic:
Cloudy days also make for lovely reflections on lake 馃檪
