First I put up a couple of birdhouses :) Because I've always wanted to make some birdhouse. These are for Eastern Bluebirds but may end up with other small birds like tufted titmouse or wrens. I would be happy with any takers in the first year.
Next I started putting up some posts for a fence. I cut the posts from some downed trees that were on our land when we bought it. Clearing out downed trees and brush piles could have been a whole series of blog posts on its own. Luckily we got most of that done last summer.
We are also starting some seeds since it is still cold here. The seeds are planted in recycled egg cartons. We are using our boiler room to germinate seeds. The room stays at 80-90F. The blue plastic at the bottom of the photo is our hot water tank.
These are some sweet peppers. Most of the first batch of seedlings have been moved to the grow lights in the garage.
Here are some seedlings a little farther along in the garage under a grow light - pumpkin, butternut squash, sunflower, tomato, and cucumber. The seeds are a combination of some we saved and some we bought.
Building frames for raised beds.
Making progress! Next steps - leveling up raised bed frames then figuring out fill for the beds.
Stay tuned.
