Snowy, cold day in Vermont so I dug through my archives for some photos. I came up with the theme of desert shots edited to black and white. Beginning with a photo from the south rim of the Grand Canyon in Arizona. The layers of shadows, the geology in the canyon, and the clouds all add up.
Next to a shot somewhere in the high desert of Utah. I liked this one because it seems like its right out of a movie set for an old Western.
New Mexico is next with this view of the ruins at Chaco Canyon. Fascinating history of the Anasazi on display here.

Another photo of the ruins in Chaco Culture National Park. The ruins are really off the beaten path. The dirt road in makes you wonder if you are lost but its worth it. We were driving from California to Vermont when we visited Chaco Canyon. We had two cars and my wife slowed down to get out of my dust cloud. Unfortunately I sped up to get her out of my dust cloud at the same time. She lost sight of my car and was left alone driving on a rough dirt road in the middle of nowhere. The kind of unfortunate situation that really tests your marriage 馃槄
I'll finish with a view of the Grand Canyon. Less haze in this shot resulting in the geologic layers coming through more clearly. Hope you enjoyed my black and white views of the desert.
