I just finished a 14.353km running that lasted about 1hh:23mm:25ss !
This was my first long run of the year and I am looking to extend these a bit. I had a route in mind when I set off, but it got stretched out a bit. It was fairly cool, but bright with signs it had been raining. I did the usual run up the hill to Fairfield, but avoided the off-road part. I then branched off along the road to pick up the Greenway by Standalone Farm. That piece along the road is a bit of an up and down slog, but there were not too many cars out to break the peace and quiet.
It was once I left the road that I found the first mud, but it was not too bad there. It was further around the Greenway that it got much worse. Some was impossible to get around. At the Grange I carried on towards Norton and I think it was along there that I really went squelch and felt my feet get wet. At least the mud was only on short sections and my feet were okay overall.
At Norton I just followed the road back to Stotfold and it was very quiet along there. As I came through Stotfold it started raining, but this did not last long. It was not the fastest run, but I am happy enough if I keep under 6min/km and the distance was good.
There were a few runners out, but nobody I know. I saw a couple of squirrels, one was black, and lots of magpies amongst other birds. I was listening to various podcasts that were all science and technology stuff. I like to keep up with current developments. In Our Time was about eclipses. I have never seen a total solar eclipse, so that could be one for the bucket list.
I will aim to do three or four runs each week this year to try and get around 30km. I would like to do more half marathons, but may try some other personal challenges.
Run free and stay well.
