I just finished a 4.788km running that lasted about 0hh:27mm:36ss !
There is a concept in running of recovery runs. There are supposed to be various benefits to taking it a little easier. In my case today was more about just getting out there after Sunday's half marathon. My legs are still a little sore, so I was not going to push too hard. I just do not want to get out of my routine.
It was quite a nice morning with mostly blue skies. There were a few school kids around, so I tried to avoid the busier areas of the village. I went for a loop around the area called Church End taking in some back streets. I was just going with what felt okay, but it seems I sped up a bit as I went along.
The article above has various calculations of what your heart rate should be for a recovery run. Mine may have been a bit on the high side.
I wanted to make it up to about 5k today, so I ended with a lap of my block, which involves a bit of a hill.
Overall it was nice to be out enjoying the sunshine and my podcasts. I know in the past that after doing a long run I would be struggling to even walk for a couple of days, so my recovery has improved a lot. I still marvel at people who can do long runs every day. I guess they build some tolerance for those.
Run free and stay well.
