Description from Strava:
I was marshalling at parkrun yesterday when we had lots of runners on a lovely morning. It was looking nice again today as I headed out. I had not been over the railway to the fields for a while so decided on that option. We still have the alternative way to the footbridge whilst building work continues. Someone has cleared all the weeds around the bridge so there are no nettles or brambles to avoid. You do have to watch your footing around the river as there are various holes. A scooter had been abandoned by the weir. That was a mill many years ago. I just missed a yellow wagtail posing on the old mill wall in the river.

I am not sure what crops have been growing in the fields over there, but there were lots of big sunflowers in there. It did not seem enough for that to be the main crop and I have not noticed full fields of them around here.

I stuck to the farm tracks rather than cutting across the fields, but that is uneven due to a load of large stones. I was having to watch my step again. I passed the farm and cut through RAF Henlow. I have heard that will eventually shut down, but they still have warning signs and it just looks odd to have them by a playground.

From there I headed towards Henlow along the road. That can get noisy with the traffic as I am trying to listen to podcasts. It was The News Quiz at that point. I ran up to Henlow church and then down to the parkrun course so I could run around most of that before crossing the railway again at the station. By then my legs were tired, but I took the long way home.

I would usually do a longer Sunday run, but I have not run this far in a few weeks. My cold is lingering and I need to build up distance again. The pace was fairly good once I got going at under 6min/km.

Enjoy your Sunday and run free!
