I just finished a 14.719km running that lasted about 1hh:28mm:8ss !
Another lovely morning. I never get out as early as I want to. Our cat has been waking us up early and so I lose a bit of sleep. When I did get up she wanted to go out, but she has to be watched and so I waited a bit longer for that. When I did get out I headed south along the Hicca Way. Some day I want to follow it to the end, but today was a loop that took in the village of Ickleford. That means crossing several fields. The farmers leave a track through the crops, but the ground is very uneven, so you have to watch your step. There were more people out there than I expected.
At Ickleford I passed the stables and then it was under the railway bridge. Need to be careful there as there is no pavement/sidewalk and cars cannot see you as they come around the corner. Then it is past Hitchin Lavender, which is closed now. In recent years it has attracted loads of Chinese tourists.
There is a brief stretch by the road before taking another track. I slowed a bit to climb that hill and stopped to take a photo looking back towards #Arlesey. I was passed by a mountain biker along that track and there were some dog walkers. It ends by The Wilbury pub which featured in The World's End movie. I followed the road down to Standalone Farm and joined the Greenway there to stay away from the roads. That has a few little hills, but my legs were not too bad. I was not going for speed today anyway. One runner remarked that he was not looking forward to the hill up to The Grange as he overtook me, but I was heading the other way towards Fairfield and that is mostly downhill.
I just kept on going back to Arlesey, but I was really feeling tired by then. My leg was hurting a bit where I banged it on the bike the other week. Generally it has not been troubling me.
Wildlife spotted today included a white egret and a curious squirrel. My podcasts are getting logged on last.fm. Quite a bit of science today and that was largely about the pandemic. Some comedy too for light relief.
Have a great Sunday. Run free and stay well.
