I just finished a 4.95km running that lasted about 0hh:25mm:48ss !
Yes, I have a cold coming on. I could feel it in my throat yesterday. It is never fun, but I will try to keep running. I also had a restless night's sleep with the cat getting me up. I found the ride to the station and up the hill at the other end hard work. With the train I get I have to wait a while for the race to start and I was not feeling too great then. Loads of people turned up. This is my first time there this year for my fifth #parkrun of the year over four locations. I quite like the #Stevenage course even if it goes up and down a bit. It just gets very crowded on the paths at the start and it is hard to make progress through slower runners.
I was keeping an eye on my pace and it was slower than I would like, but given how I felt I guess it is not so bad. A couple of years back I would be very happy to run that fast. There is a stretch where you can see those in the lead coming back the other way. I just accept that and there were plenty of people seeing me do the same a little later.
I kept going as best I could and had nothing much left by the time it came to the steeper climb to the finish. There was a bit of a queue there. I sometimes make a dash back to the station to get the earlier train back, but that was not looking possible this time as the race started a little late too. I took it easy riding back and just had to wait a bit for the next train. I could drive there, but I try to minimise my car use and the train is covered by the weekly ticket I get for my work commute.
I will have to drive to some of the other parkruns in the area. I am looking to find others who live near me to car-share.
