A couple of weeks I posted about the rank looking like it had stopped falling. I've been tracking it most weeks out of interest. It peaked in mid-March at around 930, but fell to about 1800. Obviously that's disappointing at a time when we want it to be growing, but there's a lot of competition for attention.
Hypestat provides a good overview of the state of the site. You can get some of this from Alexa directly, but you have to sign up for more details.
Today the rank had improved by about 10 places. That's not a visible upturn on the small graph, but I hope it will be in time. I'm slightly puzzled by the daily visitor count as that was previously around 220k and is now 624k. Maybe they have changed how they measure this.
We know that activity on Steemit has been affected by the Steem price, but that is on the rise too. It's had the biggest rise in the top 50 coins today with good volume.
Also on Hypestat we can see the country breakdown. South Korea is a key country, but India is rising fast.. The UK has dropped after being third for a long time. Steemit is still very popular in Venezuela and Nigeria. China is an interesting one as it ranks very low there whilst still getting a lot of views. We have to bear in mind that it's still a pretty small site on a global scale. Others get hundreds of millions of visitors every day.
Obviously Steemit.com is not the only way to use this blockchain. Dlive is getting 20k visitors and is climbing well.
DTube gets similar hits, but is falling a little.
Busy.org is doing slightly better.
I just thought to check the SteemKR site which is a translated version of the main site in Korean. It's doing pretty well, but the rank has plateaued.
The video sites probably don't take many people away from the Steemit site, but the alternative interfaces may. If you are aware of other sites on the Steem blockchain that do substantially better then please let me know. I also wonder how many people are using apps like eSteem.
I did some similar checks on sites a few months ago. That included some other sites, but all are on the way down for now.
It's my hope that Steemit in all its forms will become more prominent around the world. I believe we may see a proper marketing effort once Hardfork 20 happens and Steemit Inc feel ready to spend some of their funds on promotion.
Any thoughts on how Steemit is doing? Can we expect a lot when it's still considered a beta platform?
Steem on!
