Follow Friday: Many More Minnows

You may know I started the #TenKMinnows project in late February when we had 9197 minnows and the number was not increasing much. A number of people jumped in to help promote this project and we now have about 150 more in total and a lot more have made the jump from redfish to minnow. A fair few are powering down for various reasons, so we have done what we can to counter that. @paulag came up with the target of creating 250 new minnows in a month and that was achieved with over 300 making the leap. At this rate we should be able to get to well over 10,000 by the end of the year. Those who have made it should look into the Minnow Power-up League from @steemcommunity (a witness deserving of your vote).

We are looking at ways that the @TenKMinnows account can continue to help people power up. It has received some nice delegations, but I understand if people need to take them back. @paulag set up some automatic voting that could continue. If you go to the @TenKMinnows feed you can see recent posts by people we are supporting and give them some votes.

If you are a 'redfish' (under 500 SP) then you can also look at the Redfish Power UP League and the Minnow-ASAP project from @hitmeasap. Take advantage of such projects to build up your account. You could also gain followers who will support you.

So for #FollowFriday I am putting forward some proto-minnows:

@wildhomesteading, @kansuze, @skramatters and @curatorcat are all being supported by Minnow-ASAP for a couple of weeks. I have bought each of them a @SteemBasicIncome share.
@nizzlehead is a new user who is training for a marathon. There is a great community of runners of Steem. Finding a community who share your interests is a great way to make Steem more fun and increases your earning potential.
@stealthywolfxli is brand new here. He is a gamer who streams on Twitch and Youtube. He is still finding his way around, so drop him some comments to make him feel welcome.
@natedebate is also into games. His first post was a big effort, but did not get the attention it deserved and has passed payout time now. I hope he can do better in future.
It was interesting to see that the Russia Today news organisation is now on Steem as @rt-international. They have verified this from their Twitter. I know opinions will be mixed about their credibility, but we need well-known organisations using Steem. This will get the platform better known. I expect they will be a minnow very soon.
Of course you should also follow @TenKMinnows, which is not yet a minnow, for updates on the project. This account will power up all rewards it gets.

Feel free to suggest others who could use more support to get going on Steem. It can be a frustrating experience at first when you lack followers. I will keep doing #FollowFriday to help them out, but it will also feature bigger players as well. I would love to see more such posts. Tag me in one and I will stop by to give my support.
