The weekend starts here, although I realise some people have a few hours to go yet. We certainly do live in interesting times. We thought it could not get much worst after Trump and Brexit, but now we have a pandemic that is likely to kill hundreds of thousands around the world. Many people are confined to their homes to try and slow the spread. This is likely to have a massive effect on economies, but the important thing is to save lives. Of course an economic crash will cause deaths too by suicide and lack of resources, but the potential deaths if we let COVID-19 run rampant are many times worse.

Life must go on and Hive is now part of my life as Steem once was. I had said I would not post on Steem any more, but I have been unable to resist doing a few little posts there. I am not going to go all out on 'shit posts' as some are doing though. That is just not my style.

Prices
From coingecko@coingecko

The respective token prices have been up and down with Steem getting a big boost from relatively heavy trading. That is good for those selling it to buy HIVE. I just shifted another couple of thousand using blocktrades@blocktrades to bring me close to 30k HP.

As usual I will highlight some people I think you should check out. You can post your own suggestions in the comments or your own #FollowFriday post. Let us see if we can make that a bigger thing on Hive.

  • It is good to see dsound@dsound move over to Hive. Note that they have a different site address now. Developer prc@prc has been hard at work on this.
  • Fitness tracking dapp exhaust@exhaust made the move pretty soon after Hive launched. I have logged a lot of runs and cycle rides with it. I am in the top four runners for the year, but I do not mind being pushed out.
  • My friend stav@stav is spending his time in lockdown sorting through his photography archives and posting some cool samples. He does love planes and cars.
  • Malaysian runner kingcobra@kingcobra did a Hive introduction that shows the great progress he has achieved.
  • Top witness and Steemfest organiser roelandp@roelandp has released a new HiveWallet app. I need to try that.

The Doghouse

There are some accounts that have milked Steem for ages and are doing the same on Hive now. Some are already being dealy with by big accounts, but you may want to keep an eye on them. These are using big self-votes that sometimes use proxy accounts. I am not going to tag them directly in case they decide to attack me.

  • Haejin posts 'financial analysis' several times each day and uses his other account to vote them up. He did this for ages on Steem and was making up to around $1000 per day at times. For now he is being zeroed out on Hive. He blocked me on Twitter and flagged all my Steem posts at one point, but the community got me my rewards back.
  • Crystalliu is just a spammer who bought a chunk of Steem to self-vote himself. He moves this around a few accounts, but just posts the same few video clips over and over. The sheer volume of posts really needs automated tools to deal with. He does not care at all about the platform.
  • Oldstone appears to be an alt account of another big self-voter. His posts get hardly any comments, but why should they care when they can reap their self-vote rewards?

I know these are all Asian, but it just so happens these are the biggest cases I have seen. It is not about who they are, but what they do. Feel free to let me know of others. You can join the steemflagrewards@steemflagrewards discord to do this rather than posting here.

steemflagrewards@steemflagrewards has yet to start operations on Hive and it may do so under another name. So far we are not seeing massive vote buying, but there are a few cases. It just has not taken off yet and we need to 'nip it in the bud' to prevent it becoming as bad a problem as it was on Steem. We have the same free downvotes we can use. It is up to you whether you use them. The future of Hive is up to us.

Five five!
