Some friends of ours love going to Cornwall and they kindly brought me back some beers. One of them was this Portleven pale ale by Skinners brewery.
Cornwall is known for its surfing, so they have gone with that image on the label and named it after a coastal town. I had to find the bottle in the recycling box today as the photo I took the other day was terrible.
It comes out with a bit of a head and lots of bubbles. I found this a very nice drink for a summer evening. Just what I needed on a Friday (yes, this is late).
At 4.8% this is a reasonable strong beer, but was not overpowering. There are times when you just want it to be refreshing and with the heat we have had lately this hit the spot. Notice that it carries the Cornish flag.
I would love to have been drinking this in a beach hut after a day's surfing, but we are a long way from the sea and even further from Cornwall. I made do with our sofa after a day of working from home.
