Well, although I've not worked a lot of 2020 yesterday was my last day at work for the year. It's not often I take Christmas off but fancied a change and to be honest I need the break. This year has been draining.

Onwards to 2021.

The next year is again full of uncertainties and is undoubtedly going to be very difficult for many. The COVID vaccine is going to take ages to rollout, I imagine tighter restrictions will be put in place for many after Christmas and I wonder if the kids will be going back to school. Will the smaller independent units on the high street start to make a comeback? Will the music and entertainment industry, which has been decimated, be able to slowly make a return?

Who knows?

I'm trying to start the year with a positive mind. It has been a long process but I've managed to secure myself a permanent job just a few miles from where we live. Although it has been great working for the past few months, it saved us from potentially losing the house, working under a casual contract has been stressful. I don't do risk well.

I'll be joining the public sector so I hope there's a little more protection than there is within private companies and organisations. Especially in the current climate! I'm heading back to a job I love doing; I've been out of the IT Operations game now since October 2016. I know you make your own happiness and success but I hope the new job will lead to a more satisfying existence. I've had 4 years of frustration, being away from my family (physically and mentally) and have pretty much given up all the things I enjoy doing. I'm looking forward to getting my teeth stuck into something new and all the challenges that will come with it.

It's comforting to finally see the light at the end of the tunnel. I hope those of you who have also had a challenging year, see positive change soon if you haven't done so already.
