Seriously. I don't get life sometimes. I got up this morning and made my way to church to get my weekly dose of uplifting spiritual enlightenment and came home and started flipping through the channels on the TV. that combined with listening to my step-daughter go on and on with endless facebook drama it wasn't no time at all and I found myself feeling a bit on edge, sad, and downright depressed.
So what did I do? I got up and got on my bicycle and took a ride down to the park and planted my butt on the ground and had a little self talk and texted my step-kid how I was feeling about the direction I thought she was headed. Of course that ended up causing a bit of tension but I stuck to my guns using "I" statements and reaffirming how much I think the world of her and was doing my best to "stay out of it" from a concerned parent point of view. Shortly she called cheerful and gave me the low down of it all and I felt relieved. Being a parent is bad enough. Dealing with a 29yr old step-daughter well that's another story.
Having that burden lifted I just sat there. I sat there looking around the park. Children playing, joggers jogging, the local scagroup fighting each other with their wooden Shields and swords, birds flying by even against the somewhat raging wind, yes, indeed everything is going to be OK..
So. If you're feeling a little awkward and every little nothing is getting you down and you don't really know why or what is going on. I'd highly recommend you get up and change your environment, go to the park, get out and get away and re-evaluate the situation from a different perspective and you might quickly find it was just nothing if nothing at all but common boredom and like magic things will be OK.
