Photographed on an obscenely dull evening with lush greenery all around. This enormous ancient tree in the centre, a small trickle running over the rocks and a questionable sky with pink and grey tones.
I wasn’t focusing on anything about relationships but couldn’t help noticing something.
It just takes its time.
Take a good look. This tree wasn’t grown overnight. From beneath the ground, the roots have been wrapping around and waiting during the proper seasons. What we see, is just the branches. Many of us approach this differently in our life. We want to an immediate, grown up flurry of branches filled with connection, love, a happy ending. Instead of focussing on our roots.
LAW OF ATTRACTION (taking the hype out of it)
You may have heard people tell you ‘Think and it will happen’ but honestly, that really does my head in. Just wanting stuff to happen won’t put anybody in your life. However, what I do believe is that instead of attracting what you want, you are actually noticing circumstances that largely reflect yourself. So if I am stressed, desperate and freaked out, I will notice situations that are the same. I’ll also be noticed by them! Whereas if I am peaceful, truthful and kind to myself; I will start to attract people like me. It’s not magic. Instead, when we feel one way we behave differently, attracting different people.
The trickle doesn’t try to win
Take a look at that little trickle at the bottom. It just flows around the rocks. There is no struggle and still manages to reach it’s destination – the paddy fields.
So much of a good relationship is letting go. You relax and let your true self come through. The right things work their way through.
Some reminders:
Get your roots sorted. Do some healing, learning and resting. You become someone you would want to come home to.
Have clarity. Just focus on what you actually want. A person with a ‘perfect’ nature? No. Focus on how you want to feel in a relationship (peaceful, respected, laughing!)
Don’t plead. The right people don’t need persuading.
Be patient. Some of the best trees are those that grew slowly!
Final Thoughts
I had a strange sense of lightness after being on this hillside. Nature never hurries. Everything is completed without rushing.
Maybe it works the same with love. Let it grow and be receptive. Trust it will happen in time.
What do you think? Do you think we truly attract what we are? I would love to know, leave me a comment below. 🌿
