Digging in the dirt for root vegetables can be alot of work and many times the underground potatoes can get damaged when trying to remove them using D-forks and other tools. I came across a video that showed how to grow food in hay, and im giving it a try with some red potatoes.
The Ruth Stout method is where you use old discarded hay to use as a media for the roots to grow in. Since I started this project, I learned others have tried this. Such as 
I exposed some spuds to light, let them form eyes and them cut them up into small pieces to callus over and then were placed in the ground.
I am quite excited to see the results, this video was made about a month ago. And since then the red potatoes have emerged from the hay.
