Flowering Daffodils - Macro Photography

These plants grow wild as perennials in the region, and go by the name of (Narcissus pseudonarcissus). They tend to do very well just about anywhere you put them. I got myself about 100 bulbs of them put in the ground this year and a few of them flowered. What's interesting about this flower is its 2 layers, the outer layer with a smooth white appearance. And the inner layer are furled along the edges and a bright yellow color. The smell coming from these wild flowers is quite enjoyable. Though just must get right up next to them to notice the smell right now. Maybe the scent will increase as the plants adjust, since I just planted them a month or two ago. Using them to fill an area where they can come back every year, looking forward to how they bud in the future once they have some more energy.

Looking at the inner flower petals it has a furled appearance along the edge of the petals. Focusing on the edge of the petals the appearance of the furled edge can be seen.

Another Daffodil flower but a little older than the ones seen above. Its starting to close up, hopefully it got pollinated.

The leaves of the plant are quite simple, reminds me of lilly leaves. I just transplanted them this year so it may be while before they start putting off new leaf growth and look a little better.

Some of the pollen dust can be seen on the inner petals, probably was visited by a Bee or something as it appears disturbed. Glad to see the flower got some attention, these bloom very early in the season. Even before my Mason bees get a chance to visit them sometimes, depending on the year and season changes.

From the side the two layers of petals can be seen easily. The smell that comes off these flowers is quite nice, hopefully when more of them open it should make the whole area smell great. I planted about 100 bulbs so maybe next year or the following year they will all flower.

This year the flowers are not as impressive, I dug these up from another property and they flowered days within doing so. I have a feeling they are a little shocked so the flowers are sagging and such. Maybe next year the bulbs will be strong enough to stand up straight.

After these flowers close up, they are usually done for the year. Just the lilly like leaves remain, hopefully next year I will get even more flowers and the plants will look a little more happy from a year of adapting in a new place.
