A cambio te llamaré Akira, ¡no te preocupes! Sé que no es tu verdadero nombre.

Do you hear that? It's the sound of night bugs! Precious insects flapping and singing over my brilliant book; they love my stories, and like me they hate the cold and the dark. Now do you understand why they accompany me? They look for warmth and light in these pages that, in addition to being old, exude the power that man has desired since the beginning of time. Do you know what it is? If you still don't know, you should feel blessed because today I will tell you... and you just have to listen carefully, nothing more. I'll call you Akira in return, don't worry! I know he is not your real name.

This shining book was forged in the iron age by the clan of my ancestors; the only clan that survived the western wars. Hidden in the sacred forests, they joined their songs to create a powerful weapon that would restore peace to the world, or so they believed. It took fire, sweat and blood for the minted pages to take on a life of their own and fulfill the wishes of those who wrote on them. Nobody could do it; none of my extinct clan made it worthy of the paper gun, and that was what led my family to destruction.

Century after century the bearers of the book succumbed to madness in the attempt to write their wishes for peace on paper. My father and mother did not want to take the risk and for that reason they inherited it to me, but I was not so foolish as to fall into the fateful mistake that my ancestors made.

Now, Akira, I must confess the most important thing to you.

When I received the book I hid it away from the peaceful wishes of my parents; they longed to try my luck by forcing me to write on these pages the words that led my ancestors to their downfall, but I absolutely refused. They persisted and, as punishment for my refusal, they sentenced me to a lash to try to change my decision. I still feel the sting of the whip in my chest, opening the bloody lines that soaked up my tears. Determined to flee from that hell, I plucked up my courage and, accompanied by agonizing pain, I prepared to ask the book for a different wish:

"Give me a story... a story in which I can be happy."

When writing that wish the pages of the book illuminated my face. I felt a rush of air pushing me to the stars and the surroundings crumbled like dust particles in water. I floated in a bluish liquid while the shiny pages whispered to me about Akira, the being that would change my life forever. And after that epiphany I appeared leaning on this same tree, surrounded by bugs and roots that anchor my feet to the ground; without the torments of my ancestors who misinterpreted the magic of his creation.

"Universal peace" Nothing that is not first achieved with the peace of conscience.

Submerged in this dimension without humans, I have waited for that peaceful power that many yearn to achieve but that few achieve. In my longing for freedom I discovered that peace is an individual term; something that comes off and spreads, but you can't just ask: you have to find it. Do I have peace? That's why you're here, Akira… to set me free.

The day I asked for my story, the path my ancestors tried to forge was revealed to me; they did not require magic or glossy-leaf books, they only needed themselves to impregnate the land with that peace they so longed for. That is why they succumbed to madness: their claims were arrogant and, in the martyrdom of frustration, they poisoned themselves for eternity. No one can find harmony while covering themselves in greed... this silent tree and these noisy insects have helped me to understand it, even more than the book itself forged with ancient magic.

The roots that devour my body try to merge me with the minerals of the earth. Before they do, you must know the reason for your stay in this magical and dazzling place, Akira. Your mission is my mission, and my mission is to make the world understand that the desire that humans crave is not found in magical books or secrets found within them: that is only a test for hearts sealed in their arrogant blind claims. Don't be like them, Akira, don't be like anyone else: just seek the freedom of your conscience.

"If you are at peace, the rest of the world will be at peace too"

Y ahora eres tú quien debes escribirla.

That is the power that I wanted to tell you so much about, Akira, and this is the story that I so hopefully asked to be freed from the injustice of the whipping. I can sigh easy now that you know the power that really matters, and that human beings have sought since the beginning of time. Right now I want some hot coffee... I haven't tasted that bitter sweetness in so long. However, as the book ceases to shine, I am grateful for the opportunity to vent. Thank you Akira, for understanding this old heart. What will your real name be? The song of the crickets disturbs my sighs.

The secret is in your hands… remember: my story is your story. And now it is you who must write it.
