This is a house that I have known for a long time, I remember that before it was better known for being a library, but from a few years ago, its function has changed and many other activities take place there.

The morning I took these photos, I had gone for a meeting there, and while waiting I felt the atmosphere so serene that it provoked me to take some shots in its central inner courtyard and some corridors.

This house, which was owned by General in Chief Santiago Mariño, is located in the center of the city of La Victoria (Aragua - Venezuela), in a very busy street, but as soon as you enter the bustle disappears.

Its construction dates from the 19th century, and Mariño, Venezuelan hero who was head of the army during the War of Independence, lived there. In 1813 he led the liberation of the east of the country by overthrowing the royalist forces of Spain.

As you can see in the photos, in the central patio of the house there is a bust of the General surrounded by a beautiful garden. Around it are several rooms that have been converted into museum rooms where furniture of the time, paintings, flags and other objects are exhibited, as well as temporary art exhibits.

The Casa de Mariño houses the Cultural Department of the Mayor's Office, a library, the 12 de Febrero Foundation and many cultural organizations carry out activities here.

A curious or anecdotal fact, is that many people who have worked in this building, affirm that the owner usually appears there from time to time, it seems that he enjoys scaring people, he died in this house in 1854.
