Today I had some company on the swings, Mummy and a visiting friend. Look at that for Daddy editing skills with timing to hide her face. Not that she would likely care so much but still. This was taken at a park in the centre of the city a few hours ago and for once, it wan't super busy and we could all get a place on a swing. Except Daddy.
It is nice seeing Mummy and Daddy with their friends as so many of them have different kinds of personalities. A lot of people tend to hang out with people much like themselves who have opinions, much like themselves. Boooooo-ring. It would be so much better to have a wide range of people to talk to. I hope there will be lots of different kinds of kids at daycare next week when I start. I am pretty shy with new people but, I plan on making an effort, especially since I am going to be the oldest in my group. Lead by example and all that.
Talking of examples, I saw my first ever Hippopotamus in real life!! Mummy and I were walking back from the beach and I saw him sitting there in the lake cooling off. I was so excited I screamed to Mummy "Look, a Hippo!"
She turned but couldn't see him at first and I had to tell her again, "There in the water!" I was so happy to see my first one in the wild as I have a Spot the Dog book and Spot has a blue Hippo friend and they go on adventures. Adventures with my own hippo friend would be awesome.
Unfortunately though, Mummy had to tell me I was mistaken and that it wasn't a Hippo at all, it was a very old big man. Well, I guess it was kind of a modern day, urban safari trip anyway so, still pretty exciting.
The weather continues on being super hot and by far, the hottest summer I have ever experienced in all two of them. Driving with a broken airconditioner at the moment is akin to turning on the oven, covering oneself in chili oil, climbing in and shutting the door. If you ever want to smell human flesh cooking, come for a ride with us. It smells a lot like chicken. We are surviving though and life could be worse.
Tomorrow will be another beach day I hope and perhaps I will see another of Spot's friends, a Crocodile! I thought I saw one the other day but it was just an old woman who had spent too much of her life tanning. Urban Safari.
