Hello. I am a new steemian.
as you see, my user name of steem is 'sleeprince'. I know this name is too childish, but I didn't know it would be shown to everyone.
till now, I have never told why I made my user name as 'sleeprince' to anyone. but here is steem and this is my first story for you
I made my user name 'sleeprince' at first when I was a little kid aged 10~12. at that time, I often felt frustrated about my gender. whenever I got trouble with girls in the school, teacher always punished me and said "you are a man, don't argue with girls. be nice to her". I thought she started arguing and that was her fault, but always it was I who was punished. if I protested my innocence, adults said "stop whining! be a man". I thought it was unfair. Moreover, whenever I watched kinds of fairy tales, I found the male main character was nice, strong and rich, while female one just had nice personality. one day, I saw 'sleeping beauty' and got anger. stupid princess won everything, just because prince choose her! princess did nothing but sleeping! even dumb princess was warned so many times before she was pricked by a needle. I thought this kinds of story had severe problem for gender equality. I wanted for people to think the opposite. then, I tried to make user name as 'sleeping prince', but web site didn't support that long name. this is the story why my user name become 'sleeprince'
as I grew up, I realized the fact that girls also felt unfair too. one day, school boys and girls drank alcohol in the dorm. of course drinking was illegal for teenager. teachers found out this and notified it to their parents. I saw that reactions from parents were too different between boys and girls. parents who had boys didn't take it seriously, but parents who had girls took it seriously. then, I started to understand the society burdens boys and girls in different ways and how the society imposes gender role to each.
anyway, I will write essay about science here. I might be writing about the theory of evolution as my first article. Please look forward to it.
