This past week I've been recovering from a cold but finally got out for a walk for #wednesdaywalk by @tattoodjay
It finally got a bit warmer out and one of the first things I saw was a robin yanking a worm out of the ground. Lets hope this is the last of the snows and spring can finally go into full bloom.
Quite a few robins were out fishing worms out of the ground. This must mean the ground hasn't been frozen for a while.
Even a turtle managed to come out in the cold 45 degree weather. It was a bit sluggish and barely slid into the lake as it saw me.
The turtle splashing into the water annoyed a red-winged blackbird sitting nearby. His colors aren't fully in yet but soon there will be bright red wing patches on him for breeding season.
There's a pair of red-tailed hawks nesting in the parapits here, sadly I didn't see them perching on them this time around. Last time I saw one fly a snake or carcass or possibly some sort of intestine up there for the chicks.
This tree decoration near the lake is a bit outdated now that its no longer frozen over. I wonder if there's any decoration for when spring arrives...
The geese are getting ready to take over and start making nests around the lake.
Eventually these guys will start pairing up and taking over the floating island nest spots on the lake. I wonder if these are the goslings I saw last year getting ready to start families of their own now.
The sparrows posed nicely on the wild rosebushes as I started heading back home. Maybe next time I'll just stand still and wait for lots of sparrows to land on the bush for better shots.
That's all for now, thanks for looking :-)
