Here is a sort of gloomy spring #wednesdaywalk near the swamps

I finally see the baby turtles near the swamp. Its been a sort of cold spring this year and they emerged a bit later than last year.

Someday I want to catch one of these little guys. They are extra fast and usually slide off the edge of whatever they are sunbathing on. They better be skittish because herons love to gulp them down.

This larger painted turtle doesn't have to be worried about herons but perhaps a racoon or fox might make a snack out of this guy if they are fast enough lol.

As it is the month of May the May apples are starting to grow. Sometimes these guys can be an indicator of morel mushroom season starting. So far I haven't found any this year, or any other mushrooms for that matter.

I'm not sure what these wildflowers are called but they seemed to be everywhere. I seem to remember the common name having bell in it somewhere as they resemble little white bells.

I have to up my game on wildflower identification as it looks like no mushrooms are growing this year. These little flowers were all over the place and the leaf looks sort of familiar like a wort of some kind. Perhaps it has medicinal benefits, or it could be poisonous who knows...

I can identify dandelions though lol. And the roots are medicinal as well.

Here's anther one I know Horsetail (Equisetum arvense) that is a good medicinal used since ancient times. It is mainly used as a diuretic but studies also indicate it strengthens bones because it contains silicon. I've also read it can increase hair and nail growth if you have thinning hair or brittle nails.

Here is another strange wildflower that I don't know the ID for.

Not much else was out on my walk other than some huge buzzards above. I thought I could get a nice flight photo but then of course the branch got in the way.
