This oriole was busy eating nectar in this plum tree so I was able to get near enough with my lens for a few shots.

This is the first shot I was able to get of him. I snuck up behind him in the weeds underneath the tree.

Then he saw me and was about to fly off but all these plum blooms were too tasty to leave behind. I stood still a while to let him get used to me.

After being a bit suspicious of me he started going back to eating the pollen and nectar.

Still he was a bit suspicious and kept an eye on me from behind the blooms.

After a while he stopped caring I was there taking pictures and started feasting away.

Here is where he spotted a noisy grackle landing in the tree.

Finally he got tired of staying in one spot and flew into another tree.

Fortunately he was used to me by now and I was able to get even closer shots of him.

The feather details started showing up at this distance.

This is the noisy grackle that was making the oriole uneasy.

In the right lighting they can really shine with hints of blue and purple.

Here he is making a strange noise and blinking at the same time lol.

Happy #featheredfriday.
