This squirrel was searching in my yard for one of its food stashes, and I was testing out a new zoom lens, the Nikon 180mm-600mm, so I wanted to try and get the squirrel to come a bit closer to me. I was able to get its attention from a distance by making some noises, which can best be described as a chit‑chit‑chit‑chit or tick‑tick‑tick‑tick sound. I was able to get the squirrel's attention before too long; it still stayed in one spot on the tree roots. Looked at me, curious about what I was doing, possibly even suspicious of me. So after a little bit of posing, I stood making the noise, and it moved on. Eventually he was munching on some vegetation as he stood on the fence.
