The true BYTOM / echt BYTOM

Prawda taka, że ludzie poza Polską na hasło "Bytom" mają zupełnie inna skojarzenia. Z kolei ludzie w Polsce w ogóle nie mają pojęcia o kryptowalucie Bytom czy o samochodzie. Chociaż sam jak zacząłem sprawdzać, to okazało się, że auta akurat nazywają się Byton. Jest jeszcze marka odzieżowa Bytom, która za czasów Polski Ludowej cieszyła się dużą popularnością w Polsce jak i krajach bloku wschodniego. Ale ja nie o tym, tylko o niegdyś najpiękniejszym mieście Górnego Śląska.

ENG The truth is that people outside of Poland have completely different associations. On the other hand Poles have no idea about the Bytom cryptocurrency nor about the cars. Although myself looking up some facts realised that the cars are named Byton (not Bytom). There's also a fashion brand Bytom, which was highly esteemed during times of People's republic among countries of Eastern Block. But I wanted to invite you to once the most beautiful city in Upper Silesia

Bytom, przed wojną był określany najpiękniejszym miastem na Śląsku, którego wojna tak nie zniszczyła jak pokój. W Bytomiu skupiają się wszelkie problemy Polski Ludowej, transformacji systemowej i krótkowzrocznych prób ratowania sytuacji. Po wojnie przez długie lata eksploatowano miasto zarówno przemysłowo jak i mieszkaniowo, lecz nie inwestowano w tą materię. Początkowo ze strachu, że Niemcy wrócą i odbiorą, a potem chyba z braku środków. Lata 90-te przyniosły upadek większości zakładów w mieście. To z kolei doprowadziło do tego, że dla ratowania budżetu i porfeli mieszkańców, miasto zgodziło się na fedrowanie pod miastem. Zgodziło się też wpierdo**ić galerię handlową w zwartą miejską zabudowę. Wydobycie doprowadziło do wyburzenia kilkudziesięciu budynków. Są próby poprawienia sytuacji, ale moim zdaniem nie są one wystarczające.

ENG Bytom, before WW2 was described as as the most beautiful city in Silesia, which got more devastated by peace than by war. In Bytom all problems have cumulated, those created by Polish People's Republic (socialistic economy), systemic transformation and short-sighted attempts of saving the city. For many years after the WW2 the city was highly exploited both industrially or in terms of housing, but these matters got hardly invested in. Initially because of the fear that Germans would take the city back, eventually - I think - because of the lack of funds. The 90's brought the bankruptcy of majority of plants. This led to, in order to save city's budget and jobs for inhabitants, allowing mining coal under the city. Authorities also allowed setting up a shopping mall among the historic city buildings. The coal mining resulted in demolishing tens of buildings (more like almost one hundred). There are attempts to make things better, but I don't think they are sufficient.
